KJR Chief Instructor Profile
John R. BEAR shihan, has been Kokusai Jujutsu Ryu Australian Chief Instructor since 1979. He holds KJR Menkyo Kaiden (senior teaching licence), KJR jujutsu 9th dan, KJR kobudo 7th dan and KKJ Kuatsu Semmonka (specialist degree).
He has long standing sports qualifications as a nationally accredited jujutsu, iaido, jodo, and strength & conditioning coach, sports trainer and first-aider. John also holds black belt ranks in AKR Iaido (Japanese sword) 3rd dan, AKR Jodo (Japanese short staff) 3rd dan, Shotokan karate 3rd dan, with ranks in other martial arts.
A recipient of 2000 Australian Sports Medal from the Australian Government for services to sport in Canberra, he was also inducted into the 2006 Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame (AMAHOF). He is Director, Kokusai Jujutsu Ryu-International Jujutsu Institute, Vice President, ACT Kendo Renmei and has been teaching and participating in martial arts in the Australian Capital Territory and region since 1968.

David CLARKE sensei, holds KJR jujutsu 4th dan and KJR kobudo 4th dan. He is a recognised CPCYC coach and has sports qualifications as a nationally accredited jujutsu, iaido and jodo instructor and first-aider. David also holds black belt ranks in AKR Iaido (Japanese sword) 1st dan and AKR Jodo (Japanese short staff) 1st dan. He has been participating in martial arts training in the Australian Capital Territory and region since 2002.

Rishni RATNAM holds KJR 2nd kyu jujutsu brown belt and KJR kobudo 2nd dan black belt. He has sports qualifications as a nationally accredited iaido and jodo instructor. Rishni also holds black belt ranks in AKR Iaido (Japanese sword) 1st dan and AKR Jodo (Japanese short staff) 1st dan and has been participating in martial arts training in the Australian Capital Territory and region since 2006.
Richard ARNETT holds KJR 4th kyu jujutsu blue belt and KJR kobudo 2nd dan black belt. He has sports qualifications as a nationally accredited iaido and jodo instructor. Richard also holds black belt ranks in AKR Iaido (Japanese sword) 1st dan and AKR Jodo (Japanese short staff) 1st dan and has been participating in martial arts training in the Australian Capital Territory and region since 2006.
Radek REKAS holds KJR 2nd kyu jujutsu brown belt and KJR kobudo 1st dan black belt. Radek also holds kyu ranks in AKR Iaido (Japanese sword) 2nd kyu and AKR Jodo (Japanese short staff) 1st dan and has been participating in martial arts training in the Australian Capital Territory and region since 2000.
Stephen SPENCER holds KJR kobudo 1st dan black belt. He has ranks in AKR Jodo (Japanese short staff) 1st dan and AKR Iaido (Japanese sword) 2nd kyu and has been participating in martial arts training in the Australian Capital Territory and region since 2006.
