KJR Chief Instructor Profile
John R. BEAR shihan, has been Kokusai Jujutsu Ryu Australian Chief Instructor since 1979. He holds KJR Menkyo Kaiden (senior teaching licence), KJR jujutsu 9th dan, KJR kobudo 7th dan and KKJ Kuatsu Semmonka (specialist degree).
He has long standing sports qualifications as a nationally accredited jujutsu, iaido, jodo, and strength & conditioning coach, sports trainer and first-aider. John also gained black belt ranks in AKR Iaido (Japanese sword) 3rd dan, AKR Jodo (Japanese short staff) 3rd dan, Shotokan karate 3rd dan, with ranks in other martial arts, including an ongoing study of Shintomusoryu Jodo.
A recipient of 2000 Australian Sports Medal from the Australian Government for services to sport in Canberra, he was also inducted into the 2006 Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame (AMAHOF). He is Director, Kokusai Jujutsu Ryu-International Jujutsu Institute and Former Vice President, ACT Kendo Renmei. He has been teaching and participating in martial arts in the Australian Capital Territory and region since 1968.

Radek REKAS holds KJR 6th dan jujutsu red and white belt and KJR kobudo 5th dan black belt. Radek also gained ranks in AKR Iaido (Japanese sword) 3rd dan and AKR Jodo (Japanese short staff) 3rd dan and has been participating in martial arts training in the Australian Capital Territory and region since 1999. He currently resides and trains in Japan and is a special advisor to the KJR Kobudo Division

Edward SCHARRER holds KJR kobudo 3rd dan black belt. He also holds high ranks in other martial arts and is a nationally accredited coach.
Tony MILLS holds KJR kobudo 1st dan black belt. He has been training in KJR Kobudo since 2009 and teaches Kobudo at the Aiki Centre 44 Lynch Street Hawthorn, Melbourne. He has been an Aikido practitioner and instructor for many years.
Andrew Walliker holds KJR kobudo 1st dan black belt and has been training in KJR Kobudo since 2010. He teaches Kobudo at the Aiki-Centre 44 Lynch Street Hawthorn, Melbourne. He has been an Aikido practitioner for many years.
Michael STORY holds KJR kobudo 1st dan brown belt. He has been training in KJR Kobudo since 2009. He has also been an Aikido practitioner for many years. (Resides in Brisbane,QLD)
